We’ve all been looking up to the skies this week. The weather consumed the news and social media on Monday as hurricane Ophelia blew past and Saharan dust created a red sun that steeped the country in an eerie orange light. Blue skies followed but now the rain has set in – well it was always going to rain as soon as half term appeared on the horizon!
You can take a closer look at the skies on CBeebies this week as Kazoops returns to our screens. Monty and Jimmy Jones are back with brand new Kazoops adventures, weekdays at 3.45pm on CBeebies. In the first episode of the new series Monty’s family are frustrated with the clouds getting in the way of their plans. Monty and Jimmy Jones set out to show everyone that the sky wouldn’t be as interesting without clouds. Kazoops is a really positive, inspiring and entertaining animation perfect for inquisitive young minds. Monty and his best friend Jimmy Jones look at the world through innocent and enquiring eyes. Are clear blue skies really that great? Well, just imagine…
Monty and Jimmy Jones are always questioning and imagining. Children are naturally curious and interested in the world around them, questioning ideas and challenging preconceptions is an important skill for children to learn and Kazoops encourages you to look at the world in different ways. We like that it makes you think, it helps to grow your brain and there’s always a catchy tune along the way. Monty helps the adults around him to see the world differently by getting them to listen to another viewpoint.
Monty might be flying through the clouds but his head certainly isn’t in them! He realises that if you don’t have clouds you won’t have rain, or rainbows, thunder or lightning. Without clouds the weather would always be the same. Clouds can provide atmosphere to his Mum’s photograph and they are the perfect floaty, dreamy addition to his sister Jeanie’s artistic designs.
The new Kazoops series is perfectly timed in a week filled with unusual clouds, skies and weather. Monty, Jimmy Jones and Floyd the Pink Flamingo even fly through a sky with a pinky/orange hue and Mr 6 made the connection with the ‘red sun’ we experienced this week.
We have to agree with Monty that clouds and rain make the skies more interesting. It would be lovely to have more blue skies but if it was like that all the time life wouldn’t be as varied – and what would we talk about!
Kazoops is a great programme to watch with the kids and get them thinking, asking questions and looking at the world a little differently.
