Engineering 4 Kids – Build A Basic Robot
The Engineering 4 Kids STEM Centre opened in London Colney in September 2019. Inside the centre you’ll find two whole floors dedicated to creative, fun learning. With ratios of just 1:5 at the February Half Term Camp, children are taught how to build a basic robot which they can race around the Engineering 4 Kids foam track and compete against other robots. The robotics programme follows the National Curriculum and is a unique opportunity for your child to learn from the experienced tutors at the Engineering 4 Kids STEM Centre. There’s also the opportunity to learn SCRATCH coding language and build more advanced robots. Children are encouraged to work at their own pace, explore their own ideas, problem solve and experiment.

Intermediate Robotics
Once children have grasped the basics they can choose to build a more complex robot or they can progress downstairs to learn more about coding their robot to negotiate a maze, learn about sensors and begin trouble-shooting. Learning at the Engineering 4 Kids STEM Centre is fun and children are guided to complete robotics activities following a brief, learn how to identify mistakes and find solutions to problems.
The Engineering 4 Kids staff are very experienced and have run robotics workshops, coding workshops and after school sessions in schools in North London and Hertfordshire, including Haileybury, Dame Alice Owen’s and Enfield Town Schools’ Partnership schools. They are also working with Aldenham Preparatory School to develop their workshops for schools based at the London Colney Engineering For Kids STEM Centre.
