Fun Family Days Out in Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire in October

Summer is clinging on but there’s a chill in the air, we’ve already picked punnets and punnets of blackberries and now we’re ready for all things apple, pumpkin and hot chocolate… bring it on Autumn… I’m ready for you!

There are so many fun family days out in Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire this October. There are Apple Day celebrations, as well as pumpkin trails, pumpkin patches and spooky fun for Half Term. You can enjoy theatre treats this month including Horrible Histories Live, Oi Frog! Live and Peppa Pig. There’s also an amazing programme of space and science-themed events and activities to commemorate 50 years since the Apollo Moon Landing and you definitely don’t want to miss Space Voyage at St Albans Cathedral.

Wardown House – Tales for Tots

Set at the seaside during the Edwardian era, Crabby is the tale of a little hermit crab in search of a new home. After a terrible storm, Crabby emerges from the shelter of a rock and is bereft: his lovely shell home is irreparably damaged. Being a crab with a soft body, he needs to find a new shell as quickly as possible in order to be safe, so he sets out along the seashore to find one. In his search, he encounters other seaside characters including a seagull, jellyfishes, barnacles and a very sensible mermaid. Recommended for children 0-7 years old. Visit the Pop-Up Farm this October! Locally grown pumpkins and squashes will be available in the Pumpkin Patch, so you can pick your own. Get your wheelbarrow and then choose your own pumpkins and squashes in the pumpkin patch, pop them in your wheelbarrow and head to the checkout! Weigh your pumpkins, take photos on the pumpkin sofas and then load your pumpkins into your car. Entry is free. Wendover Woods – Shaun The Sheep Farmageddon Glow Trail

Shaun the Sheep’s Farmageddon Glow Trail lands at Wendover Woods on Saturday 5th October 2019! Follow The Apple-lation Trail

Go on a fruity treasure hunt along the High Street and look for the applely clues carefully hidden in shop windows. Whilst you step inside, make sure to support the many independent retailers. Frank Danes, Doctor Who expert and author of ‘Six Decades of Adventure in Space and Time,’ will take visitors on an interactive journey about all things Doctor Who – from screen history, the battle between good and evil and monsters made of bubble wrap. As part of this special free afternoon, you may also have the opportunity to meet and take photos with some of Doctor Who’s most iconic characters, including two real-life Daleks. Using an exciting mix of puppets and music, Paul Batten from Theatrix Arts performs this magical story based on the ancient legend of the Lambton Worm.
