We are coming to the end of the Easter holidays and it’s back to school for us tomorrow. It’s at this point in the “holidays” that I would like to take a moment to thank the truly wonderful British Broadcasting Service and most importantly CBeebies, without which I would not have survived the last 17 days.
We all know that we need to limit screen time and that there has to be a balance between time spent outside, or whingeing, reading, eating toast, playing, moaning and watching the telly. I probably watch more CBeebies than grown-ups telly (a sad but true fact) but this does mean that I feel I am qualified to tell you that you may reach for the remote control in the knowledge that the programmes on CBeebies will genuinely inform, educate and entertain.
The telly is a very useful means of stopping small people from clobbering each other over the head, so that I can attempt to concoct something that someone might eat. It can also be a window to the world and I really am thankful for telly that is beautiful, funny, or teaches you something you didn’t know before. Yes, yes, yes… it is no substitute for going out and experiencing the world first hand but in the half an hour before dinner there isn’t time to organise an expedition to the Galapagos, so I will settle for some televisual enlightenment instead.
New episodes of Kazoops start on CBeebies at 4.20pm on Monday 17th April 2017. We will be tuning in for more animated adventures with Monty Kazoops and his faithful pet pig Jimmy Jones. It’s a bright, colourful and optimistic show with catchy tunes. Kazoops brings out a smile and it also reminds anyone watching that daydreaming can help find ideas and answers to problems.
Life is a serious business and the heavy weight of being a responsible adult means that I can forget that everyday life needs a dose of creativity and imagination. The latest Kazoops episode shows us that daydreaming isn’t such a bad thing after all. It would be quite nice if a pink dragon in a hot air balloon was the solution to my problems and then I found that it actually was… the children got to sit down, take a breath for a moment and enjoy an episode of Kazoops and I managed to get their dinner in the oven!
Thank you pink dragon and thank you CBeebies.
You can see Monty, Jimmy Jones and the pink dragon in a new episode of Kazoops on CBeebies at 4.20pm on Monday 17th April 2017.
We were sent the first episode of the new Kazoops series to have a sneaky peek at what to expect so I could write this review.
