Every year thousands of people look forward to the St Albans Fireworks organised by St Albans Cathedral. November 2020 will look different to previous years because social distancing legislation means that the usual public fireworks display is not possible. Instead of a ticketed event for thousands in Verulamium Park, there are plans for an aerial display that will be visible from doorsteps across the city, as well as on a live stream on the St Albans Cathedral YouTube channel. St Albans Cathedral estimate that 55,000 people will be able to see the aerial display from their homes in St Albans. The fireworks will rise 300-400ft above the city.
To make the display possible, St Albans Cathedral have set up a crowdfunding campaign. They need to raise £20,000 to fund the aerial display and they aim to raise even more money so that additional funds can be used to support local charities The Hospice of St Francis, Youth Talk St Albans and St Albans Cathedral. If the £20,000 target is not reached then the display will be cancelled and all the money donated will be returned.
If the crowdfunding is successful and the £20,000 target is reached then the unique display will take place in the skies above St Albans on Saturday 7th November 2020 at 6pm!
If you would like to donate to the crowdfunding campaign visit the St Albans Cathedral website for more information.
