Twirlywoos Live – Review

2 May 2019 by Kirsty Leave a Comment

Over the Easter holidays we were invited to see Twirlywoos Live! a new live show based on the hit CBeebies series with the playful, curious and sometimes calamitous Twirlywoos. Songs, silliness, bubbles and balloons make this show the perfect introduction to theatre for babies and young children. What a treat!

The stars of the show were, of course, Great BigHoo, Toodloo, Chickedy and Chick, with Peekaboo popping up on stage too. Even the Quacky Birds made an appearance and flew around the audience, allowing some of the children to stroke them. Be prepared for Twirlywoos mischief and magic that absolutely thrilled Mr 4 and the audience full of babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers.

Twirlywoos Live Review

The Twirlywoos visited the Launderette where they couldn’t help but investigate the washing machine… and the soap… filling the auditorium with bubbles, much to the delight of the children in the audience.

Then it was off to the Pizzeria. Anyone for pizza with baked beans, spaghetti and beetroot? Perhaps we won’t be trying the Twirlywoos topping suggestions anytime soon but we are still singing the incredibly catchy and memorable song, “Piece Of Pizza”!

Twirlywoos Live Show Review

Then the show finished with a party, decorations and a visit from the Very Important Lady, who goes to pieces – just as in the Twirlywoos television shows. Twirlywoos Live is very true to the CBeebies television series and retains the calm, curious humour, which kept the audience transfixed. Mr 4 thought that the show was “amazing,” full of “loveness” and he enjoyed every minute of this production where the expert puppeteers brought the Twirlywoos and their friends to life on stage.

Twirlywoos Live! is touring in theatres across the UK with new dates at the Underbelly at the Southbank in London announced in August 2019.

Visit the Twirlywoos Live! website for a full list of tour dates or to book your tickets.

Disclaimer: We received complimentary tickets to Twirlywoos Live so that I could write about my experience. The words and opinions are all my own.
